Americans Getting into Team Spirit with their Cars
Hankook Tire's latest Gauge Index shows many drivers dress their cars in sports flare
WAYNE, N.J., Jan. 26, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Football fans all over the country are gearing up for the big game this February by showing support and enthusiasm for their teams in creative and quirky ways. Whether it's shouting to fit in as the twelfth man, painting faces, or gloating about your quarterback's overall greatness, fans have the tendency to get exceptionally passionate about their teams.
Some diehard fans even go as far as making their spirit known by on their cars with bumper stickers or decals that proudly showcase their support of their favorite teams, and Hankook Tire was curious to find out which regions are more apt to show their team spirit in its latest Gauge Index survey.
According to Hankook Tire's latest Quarterly Gauge Index, the western U.S. leads in representing their team spirit with their car. The survey found that of those Americans who have a bumper sticker or decal on their car, forty-two percent (42%) of those with sports team bumper stickers are from the West. Coming in second place was the Northeast with twenty-five percent (25%).
The stats are nearly reversed when it comes to another category of bumper stickers. The Gauge also revealed that forty-nine percent (49%) of those with fun or personal life philosophy bumper stickers are from the Northeast, as the West falls in second place with thirty-five percent (35%).
Whatever your plans are for celebrating the big game, if it involves driving to a party with family or friends, keep in mind that February driving may mean messy road conditions. Hankook advises a few driving safety tips to avoid fumbling on the way to your destination:
Keep your tires inflated - As the temperature outside drops, the air inside a tire contracts and the pressure drops – one or two pounds for every ten-degree drop. Under-inflation does not give tires better traction in the snow. Check your tires this cold, winter season, and bring them up to correct pressure.
Don't mix tire types – Never mix tire performance types, use the same tire type on all four wheel positions. Having different tires may affect vehicle handling and stability.
Choose the right tire – Make sure your tires are season-appropriate. The Gauge revealed that twenty-seven percent (27%) of drivers say their tires are what receive the most damage out of any other car part due to winter weather. The Hankook Winter i-cept evo is a durable, high-performance winter tire that is perfect through tough winter weather conditions.
