American Way Names Winners of Annual 'Road Warrior' Contest
FORT WORTH, Texas, March 14, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- American Way, the inflight magazine of American Airlines, conducted its ninth annual Road Warrior Contest and has chosen its five winners.
For this year's theme "A View from the Top," contestants were required to compose an essay describing their proverbial journey to the top of a mountain in their business or personal life. They also needed to describe the tools they would carry in a fictional backpack to help reach the summit. In addition, contestants had to identify several worldwide city skylines through a series of images and coordinating multiple choice answer sets. As a bonus question, they could write what their American Way cover blurb would be if they won the Road Warrior Contest.
Below are this year's top three winners:
- Grand Prize – Adeline Cassin of Miami, Fla., won 2 million Hilton HHonors® bonus points, 1 million American Airlines AAdvantage® miles, and a $500 SkyMall® gift card.
- Second Prize – Roy D. Desrochers of Waltham, Mass., won a Bose® Lifestyle® 48 DVD home entertainment system, a Bose® Wave® music system, a pair of Bose® QuietComfort® 15 Acoustic Noise Cancelling® headphones, a five-night trip for two in a premier suite at the Hilton Los Cabos Beach & Golf Resort from Hilton Caribbean, and a $500 SkyMall® gift card.
- Third Prize – Rich Stedronsky of Temple, Texas; Scott Noon of Lititz, Pa.; Mel Hilderbrand of Aliso Viejo, Calif. each won a three-night trip for two to the Hilton Los Cabos Beach & Golf Resort from Hilton Caribbean and a $500 SkyMall® gift card.
In the charming mountain town of Park City, Utah, the five winners participated in a photo shoot that will be featured in the newest issue of American Way magazine, hitting seatback pockets on March 15. Visit www.americanwaymag.com/roadwarrior to view the winning entries.
Over the last nine years, more than 55,000 readers have entered the contest in hopes of becoming one of the five annual winners.
