LINTHICUM, Md., Nov. 7, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The American Urological Association (AUA) and Sociedad Cubana de Urología (SCU) have partnered to present the 2nd Annual AUA/SCU Summit to be held November 8 at El Palacio de Convenciones in Havana, Cuba.
This year's summit will bring together members of the global urologic community, including those of SCU, as well as urologists from the AUA New York Section, which comprises the southeastern portion of the state of New York, including Long Island and the northern portion of the state of New Jersey. Manoj Monga, MD, AUA Secretary, as well as Wayne Hellstrom, MD and Edmund Sabanegh, MD will serve as AUA faculty and present the latest advances and treatments in urologic medicine in the areas of Endourology, Male Infertility and Sexual Dysfunction.
"Inclusion and diversity are pillars within both organizations," said Dr. Monga. "The AUA and Sociedad Cubana de Urología remain committed to advancing urology through continued collaboration and the exchange of urological skills, education and patient care that is critical to the continued success of urology in the world community."
The AUA/SCU summit will promote discussion and learning among these unique urologic communities, while providing a forum to foster education, research and the advancement of patient care globally.
"Urologic health transcends geographic borders," said Dr. Octavio Manuel de la Concepcion Gomez. "It remains our desire to continue to collaborate and build bridges of friendship with the AUA and with all corners of the globe that will foster progress in urologic care. We look forward to this dynamic program in Havana, Cuba."
In November 2015, leaders from the AUA and SCU solidified an educational bridge between the two organizations to include joint educational programming with the goal to further cultivate the two parties' friendship and collaboration and foster academic exchange among urologists within both associations.
The AUA has a long history with Cuba, with the Southeastern Section of the AUA actually having held its Annual Meeting in Havana more than 60 years ago. Now, the AUA looks to continue its era of friendship and collaborations among the AUA and Cuban urology.
The AUA/SCU Summit was made possible through the generous support of KARL STORZ Endoskope.
