American Stonecraft Announces Participation in Boston Public Market, Opening June 2015
LOWELL, Mass., Jan. 5, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The participation of American Stonecraft in the Boston Public Market opening June 1, 2015, was announced today in Lowell, MA at the headquarters of American Stonecraft. The art studio will use the space at the BPM to share the story of a land that grows rocks and the farmers who battle them. Products handmade by the studio through transforming fieldstones from Northeastern farming obstacles into fine tablewares (serving dishes, coasters, and bowls) will be available for purchase through the Boston Public Market stand.

"This is our first year round retail effort," according to studio founder Gerald Croteau III, "we've previously only participated in temporary, pop-up markets." Croteau went on to add, "We tell an agricultural history about farming in New England and expect this to be a terrific brand-building opportunity and a much more powerful way to engage with our audience because the market is strictly agricultural. We will partner not only with our neighbors at the market, but with dozens of farms unable to be represented at the market otherwise."
"American Stonecraft only sources fieldstone from farms. We label each farm where pieces came from, making slabs, coasters, and bowls appropriate for serving foods, produce, and cheeses. It is really a great match, we can't wait to join this community and work together to host a great market every day," says Croteau. Approximately 45 agricultural vendors will do business at the Boston Public Market, Wednesday through Sunday, all year long. Vendors will serve fresh produce, prepared foods, and agricultural themed artisan goods.
The Boston Public Market is sited above the Haymarket Train station between the North End and Faneuil Hall along the historic Freedom Trail. Faneuil Hall is listed by Forbes Magazine as the 4th most visited tourist site in the US with approximately 18 million visitors per year.
American Stonecraft is slated to occupy selling wall #4 next to the front entrance of the market.
About American Stonecraft
American Stonecraft is a Lowell, Mass. studio that shares the story of a land that grows rocks, and the farmers who battle them. We do this by making a line of serving wares: coasters, slabs, and bowls, from fieldstones gathered at rocky New England farms. We stamp the underside of each good we make with the name of the source farm where the rock came from. On some goods, we also add a link to our website where there are pictures and information about each of these sourcing farms. Our work is sold by Gift, Home, and Food retailers in 48 US States, Canada, Mexico, and Australia.
