American Society of PeriAnesthesia Nurses (ASPAN) Adopts a New Corporate Logo
CHERRY HILL, N.J., Dec. 19, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The American Society of PeriAnesthesia Nurses announced today that its Board of Directors has adopted a new corporate logo, which will become effective January 1, 2012, to coincide with the launch of a new branding campaign.
"This is an historic day for ASPAN," said President Chris Price, "as it's the first time our logo has been recast in 31 years, and it provides the perfect opportunity to further promote perianesthesia practice across the U.S. and abroad."
The original ASPAN logo was produced in 1980, shortly after the Society's founding, with only the slightest of modifications since that time. Research indicated the initial design was intended to capture ideals such as life, a unified body, and network of perianesthesia nurses.
"The new logo does precisely the same," explained ASPAN's Marketing and Communications Manager, Doug Hanisch, "but it does so in a way that can be applied more consistently, more prominently, and in a more contemporary fashion than its predecessor. We look forward to seeing responses to the design and results from the upcoming campaign." Central to the design process were a careful examination of the Society's history, the history and significance of the old logo, and encouraging feedback from members every step of the way.
The new logo depicts two stylized aspen leaves, joined in a sphere, with the Society's full name and acronym, ASPAN, appearing alongside the leaves. Copies of the old, and new, logos are available upon request via email to: [email protected].
The American Society of PeriAnesthesia Nurses represents the interests of over 55,000 nurses who practice in preanesthesia and postanesthesia care, ambulatory surgery, and pain management. ASPAN is the largest society dedicated exclusively to the practice of perianesthesia nursing, which focuses on the care of patients undergoing surgery and other procedures that require sedation, analgesia, and anesthesia.
