American Society of Hypertension (ASH) 27th Annual Scientific Meeting Will Focus On New Developments In Hypertension Cause, Care And Treatment

NEW YORK, May 18, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The American Society of Hypertension (ASH) opens its 27th Annual Scientific Meeting on Saturday, May 19, 2012 at the Hilton in New York City. This three and a half day meeting—a scientific forum for clinical investigators and healthcare professionals treating hypertension to present research findings and advances in treatment—will address emerging trends in research and new developments in the approach to treating patients with hypertension and its consequences.
The meeting will open with a full day of activities on Saturday, May 19, beginning with a welcome from Dr. George Bakris, MD, ASH President, and Dr. William White, MD, Scientific Program Committee Chair. The remainder of the day will focus on hypertension highlights from the past year through presentations of research, panel discussions, the Thomas G. Pickering, MD, DPhil Memorial Lecture and the Young Investigator-in-Training Abstract Competition.
Following the opening activities will be simultaneous sessions with presentations by national and international hypertension experts, scientists, and allied health care professionals. Many of the sessions will focus on the progressive treatments for hypertension and related diseases, as well as the increased risks faced by patients.
