American Restaurant Concepts, Inc. Announces Appointment Of Richard Akam As CEO
Former Hooters of America CEO to lead the growth of American Restaurant Concepts into a national brand
LAFAYETTE, La., July 22, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- American Restaurant Concepts, Inc. (OTCBB: ANPZ), operator and franchisor of the award-winning Dick's Wings & Grill® restaurants, announced today that it is appointing former Hooters of America® CEO Richard W. Akam to be the new CEO of the Company on July 31.
Michael Rosenberger, the Company's current CEO, will resign from all officer and director positions with the Company on July 31.
Mr. Akam, a seasoned restaurant executive, has successfully led many of America's fastest-growing restaurant franchises. Mr. Akam held a variety of positions with Hooters of America for a period of 20 years, ending with his service as the CEO from 1995 to 2003. During that time, he increased the number of Hooter's restaurants across the country and made Hooters one of the most popular sports restaurants in America. Subsequent to Hooters, Mr. Akam served as the COO for Twin Peaks®, Raving Brands® and First Watch®, where he contributed to the growth of those restaurant chains.
As CEO, Mr. Akam will be focused on expanding the Company from a primarily Florida-based franchisor of Dick's Wings restaurants to a major national brand. He will also be diversifying the Company through the addition of new brands that will be franchised by the Company.
"I am delighted to take the helm of American Restaurant Concepts," stated Mr. Akam. "I am very impressed with the Company's brand and commitment to quality. With attributes like this, there is no question that the Company is poised to grow quickly. We will be appointing additional management and board members to the Company in the immediate future so that we have the intellectual and financial resources necessary to execute upon our aggressive growth plans."
"On behalf of the Company, I want to express my gratitude to Michael Rosenberger for all that he has achieved with the Company," added Mr. Akam. "Michael successfully grew the Dick's Wings franchise into a 17-restaurant chain, and in doing so, created a very unique brand. This will serve as a strong foundation upon which to grow the Company nationally. We look forward to Michael's continued support and wish him the best with all of his future endeavors."
"I am very excited about what the future holds for American Restaurant Concepts," stated Michael Rosenberger. "I've spent the past several years growing the Company from its inception in April 2000 into a publicly-traded franchisor of Dick's Wings restaurants, and I realize what is necessary to take the Company to the next level. Rick and his group have the experience, relationships and financial resources that are necessary to grow the Company into a national brand. They have successfully developed other small restaurant chains into major national brands, and I have no doubt that they will do the same with American Restaurant Concepts. I will always be the Company's biggest fan and supporter and wish Rick and his group the best."
