American Receives Award for Best Business Class White Wine From Business Traveller Magazine
FORT WORTH, Texas, Feb. 7, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The results are in for the annual Business Traveller Cellars in the Sky wine competition where American Airlines took home honors for its white wine selection.
The panel of judges at the 2010 Cellars in the Sky Awards chose American as the winner in the Best Business Class White Wine category for the Bernkasteler Riesling, 2007. The awards were presented in London on Feb. 3.
"Our goal is to consistently improve our customers' experience by providing unique wines to complement our inflight menus," said Rob Friedman, American's Vice President – Marketing. "We know that many of our customers, much like the readers of Business Traveller, are wine enthusiasts who appreciate our efforts to offer a wide range of fine wines onboard."
Cellars in the Sky is an annual competition organized by Business Traveller magazine. This year, a record 36 airlines from around the world entered a selection of their finest sparkling, red, white, fortified and dessert wines for tasting by a panel of wine experts and connoisseurs.
American's inflight wines are carefully selected by the airline's wine consultant, Ken Chase, a classically trained winemaker and viticulturist. Chase pays close attention to menu pairings, as well as the ethnic, cultural, seasonal and stylistic differences of each destination when selecting American's wine lists. American maintains over 25 different wine lists, specially selected for various routes, and has more than 60 wines available on its flights at any given time. Wine lists change regularly.
