American Osteopathic Association and ICDLogic launch initiative to help physician practices improve clinical documentation and ICD-10 coding
HARRISON, N.Y., Feb. 29, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- ICDLogic, an innovator in clinical documentation and ICD-10 compliant solutions, will provide a free, yearlong education series to American Osteopathic Association (AOA) members to help improve compliance with the new ICD-10 coding standard. The AOA is the professional home for 123,000 osteopathic medical students and physicians (DOs).
Data mining studies conducted in 2013, when ICD-9 was in place, suggested that nearly 40% of patients were not properly documented for chronic conditions that impact care. Many believe the problem will grow under ICD-10.
"The move toward outcomes based reimbursement is dependent on accurate clinical documentation and we want to help osteopathic physicians better understand what patient records should contain to ensure they're appropriately compensated for their care," said Matthew J. Kremke, American Osteopathic Information Association Vice President for Business Development.
"We are developing a series of free webinars, whitepapers and web clinics to assist the osteopathic community in sharpening their clinical documentation skills," says ICDLogic CEO, Monique Fayad. "And our Cypher product suite makes it fast, easy and affordable to implement what they learn. In fact, users report improvements in productivity and accuracy of up to 50%."
The Cypher suite of products are intuitive, web-based tools built for speed, ease of use, and to provide expert clinical documentation guidance at every click, while auto generating the most specific ICD-10 code to match that documentation. Cypher Clinical Edition guides providers to link underlying causes, additional factors, complications and comorbidities to specific conditions they diagnose and treat. Cypher Reference Edition lets coders and billers trace decisions made by clinicians so queries are targeted and reduced. Cypherlink enables Cypher to be embedded in any EHR.
