American Mothers seeking nominations for Mother of the Year
WASHINGTON, Oct. 24, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- American Mothers, Inc., a national nonprofit organization honoring mothers across the country, is currently seeking nominations for their annual awards, including 2013 Mother of the Year, Young Mother of the Year and Mother of Achievement. Nominations are due Dec. 1, 2012.
"Our goal is to recognize and thank moms for the many jobs they do on a daily basis and the significant contributions they are making in the community and our country," said Connell Branan, president of American Mothers, Inc. "We are searching for those ordinary mothers doing extraordinary things, and we invite anyone to nominate an inspirational mother in their life."
To qualify for the National Mother of the Year award, at least one of the nominee's children must be over the age of 18. To qualify for the Young Mother of the Year award, all of the nominee's children must be under the age of 18. The Mother of Achievement award recognizes those outstanding women whose positive influence, talents and community service have made a significant impact in the lives of children and families. In 1933, American Mothers was organized as a division of JCPenney's Golden Rule Foundation. Its mission is to promote Mother's Day and recognize deserving mothers across the country. American Mothers is also recognized as a non-governmental organization at the United Nations working with the Commission on the Status of Women to eradicate violence against women.
The winners of these awards will be announced and honored at the National Convention held in April at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City.
