American Medical Systems (AMS) sponsors Healthy Body Healthy Mind episode to raise awareness of Stress Urinary Incontinence and treatment options
MINNEAPOLIS, Feb. 3, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- American Medical Systems Inc. (AMS), a subsidiary of Endo International plc (NASDAQ: ENDP) (TSX: ENL) and leading provider of medical technologies for pelvic health, is proud to be a sponsor of an episode of the popular Healthy Body Healthy Mind series titled "Managing Female Stress Urinary Incontinence." The episode began airing nationally on The National Public Television Network (PBS) in December.
One in three women may experience bladder leakage at some point in their lifetime1. Despite its prevalence, many women remain silent because they may be too embarrassed to discuss their condition, even with their doctor.
"Stress Urinary Incontinence (SUI) can have a significant impact on the lives of women living with its debilitating symptoms, seriously compromising their well-being," said Steve Blum, General Manager, Women's Health. "This new program, with its inspiring, personal stories of symptoms, struggles and successful treatment, lends a voice to this once taboo topic and further demonstrates the AMS commitment to support women facing pelvic health conditions like SUI."
The 30-minute program profiles three women who suffered from SUI and features medical experts who define this common condition and discuss options for treating and managing it.
Viewers can check their local PBS television listings to learn when the program will air in their area, or go to http://www.livelifedry.com to view the episode and learn more about SUI.
About Stress Urinary Incontinence
Female stress urinary incontinence, or SUI, is the unintentional loss of urine caused when a physical movement or activity puts pressure (stress) on the bladder. It occurs when weakened pelvic muscles and tissue result in the bladder and urethra (the canal that carries urine from the bladder) relaxing from their normal positions. As a result, sudden abdominal pressure from coughing, sneezing, laughing or simple lifting can cause accidental loss of urine.
