American Lorain Corporation Provides Updates on Automation Upgrade Project
Chestnut Production Upgrade Listed as Key Supported Project by NDRC
LINYI, China, Feb. 10, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- American Lorain Corporation (NYSE MKT: ALN) ("American Lorain" or the "Company"), an international processed snack foods, convenience foods, and frozen foods company based in the Shandong Province, China, today provided updates for its chestnut production automation upgrade.
The project was initiated in late 2013 to enhance the automation and quality for American Lorain's chestnut production line, and is expected to finish by mid-2014. The project entails replacement and automation upgrades for key production procedures for chestnut products, and introduces numerous new equipments such as an additional chestnut decladding line, automated chestnut packaging line, chestnut vacuum saturator, chestnut sorting line, etc. The project also includes the construction of a 10,000 m2 new workshop. The project was listed as a key supported project by National Development and Reform Commission ("NDRC").
Mr. Si Chen, Chairman and CEO of American Lorain, commented: "We are very pleased to provide an update for this important automation upgrade. Before, some of the production procedures such as decladding are manual and low efficiency. As we see production costs, most notably labor but also other inputs, continue to rise, we feel imperative to upgrade the automation level, reduce our reliance on heavy labor, lower cost, and thus enhance the competitiveness of our products. The upgrade also enables us to enhance the quality, color, and taste of our existing products, and thus enhance the value added for our products. We look forward to the timely finish of the upgrade and will update the market again when we come close to the conclusion of the project."
