American Idol Star Jax Earns Her First Cover on EDGE Magazine
Leading New Jersey lifestyle publication should be first of many for New Brunswick native
ELIZABETH, N.J., July 14, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Millions of television viewers will remember Spring 2015 as the time they fell head over heels for a Jersey Girl named Jax. Her performances on American Idol propelled her to the program's "final three"— the highest a New Jersey performer had ever finished in Idol's history.
Summer 2015 marks Jax's first magazine cover, the Head Over Heels issue of EDGE.
"It will be the first of many," says Editor at Large Tracey Smith, who interviewed Jax prior to her face off with Clark Beckham and eventual champion Nick Fradiani. "She has mastered aspects of her craft on levels that really impressed me for someone so young. Frankly, I don't know how she didn't win."
"That was a huge surprise," agreed Jennifer Lopez, one of the American Idol judges. "I'm a little disappointed, too. I thought she could win the whole thing."
Smith also interviewed musician Al Jarreau, who has more than 55 years on Jax but is still touring and making new music. Jarreau discusses when he was "discovered" by America for his theme for the hit show, Moonlighting.
