WASHINGTON, Oct. 2, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- On Saturday evening before a sold-out crowd of notables, celebrities, and humane advocates gathered for the 2014 American Humane Association Hero Dog Awards™ at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Hollywood, American Humane Association, the country's first national humane organization and the only one dedicated to protecting both children and animals, unveiled new logos embodying its mission, guiding principles and major program areas.
After 137 years of groundbreaking work spearheading virtually every major advance in ensuring the welfare, wellness and well-being of kids and animals, the organization wished to capture its long legacy in a form that conveyed its work and philosophy. Representing its dual mission as well as its work to celebrate the power of the human-animal bond is a close linking of a paw print and human hand print. American Humane Association's commitment to mainstream American values is captured in patriotic red, white, and blue. The four stars represent the institution's four key program areas: Humane Intervention™, which rescues and cares for animals and communities during times of disaster and those suffering from cruelty, abuse, and neglect; Humane Research & Therapy™, which conducts groundbreaking research studies on the power of the human-animal bond and brings the immense healing power of animal-assisted therapy to people who need it most; Humane Heartland™, which operates the American Humane Certified™ program, the nation's oldest, largest, and fastest-growing third-party farm animal welfare certification program overseeing the protection of 1 billion farm animals; and Humane Hollywood™, which oversees the Hero Dog Awards and the world-renowned "No Animals Were Harmed®" program, protecting animal actors on film and TV sets for 75 years. And finally, to emphasize the institution's historical legacy of work in which it spearheaded virtually every major advance in the protection of children and animals, the founding date of 1877 is featured in the logo. The final design for the new American Humane Association logo was selected by a vote by the organization's donors, staff and board of directors.
The organization also released a new logo for its American Humane Association Hero Dog Awards™, an annual celebration of the nation's most courageous canines, featuring the striking black silhouette of a dog and a waving American flag.
"We are proud to debut these two dynamic and powerful new logos," said Dr. Robin Ganzert, American Humane Association's President and CEO. "They capture our legacy of work and the mainstream American values that we apply to all our programs helping our most vulnerable and precious – America's children and America's animals."
