American Homecare Federation celebrates 25 years of service to the bleeding disorders community
FLINT, Mich., Nov. 4, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- American Homecare Federation, a Diplomat company (NYSE: DPLO), is celebrating 25 years of business this year. Headquartered in Enfield, Connecticut, AHF is a specialty pharmacy that provides homecare pharmacy services to patients living with hemophilia, von Willebrand disease and other bleeding disorders.
AHF was founded in 1989 by Donald Colburn and his wife, Kathy Keenan, who sought a solution to make home treatment of bleeding disorders easier to manage. Colburn, who passed away in 2006, lived with hemophilia and related complications. The couple saw a need for a comprehensive, well-managed approach to treatment to ease the burden for families facing the same challenges. Additionally, they wanted to provide assistance to patients in overcoming the medical, economic and societal barriers often faced by those living with hemophilia and other bleeding disorders.
"We take great pride in the success we have had in providing the very best personalized services for individuals and families living with hemophilia and other bleeding disorders," said Mark Zatyrka, director of marketing at AHF. "Our patients are our extended family. We are always working to improve the programs and services we offer the bleeding disorders community, and now with our partnership with Diplomat, AHF is stronger than ever before. We are looking forward to our next twenty-five years."
AHF has established itself as a leader in the bleeding disorders community, developing disease management programs for individuals and families that have significantly impI racted and shaped the modern approach to patient care for these conditions. Patients remain at the center of AHF's focus, as 2014 satisfaction survey results once again returned 100 percent patient satisfaction.
The company takes pride in not only providing the best possible care for their patients, but in supporting the bleeding disorders community as a whole. AHF provides significant annual donations to the Hemophilia Federation of America as well as many local and regional bleeding disorder organizations and foundations. Additional support is extended through scholarships, summer camp programs and volunteer hours from AHF staff members.
