American Hero To Deliver 2016 Fisher College Commencement Address
Legion of Honour Recipient Alek Skarlatos to Serve as Distinguished Speaker
BOSTON, March 31, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Fisher College is proud to announce today that Alek Skarlatos, who was awarded the United States Army Soldier's Medal and the Legion of Honour, France's highest decoration, will serve as distinguished Commencement Speaker at its 112th Commencement Ceremony at the John Hancock Hall in Boston, Massachusetts on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at 11 am.
Skarlatos, an Oregon National Guardsman, received international praise as one of three American travelers who stopped a terrorist attack when they tackled and subdued a terror suspect on a Paris bound train in August 2015. French President Francois Hollande said Skarlatos and his fellow heroes, "gave us a lesson in courage, in will, and therefore in hope."
Fisher College will also present Mr. Skarlatos with an Honorary Degree during graduation exercises.

Skarlatos is the co-author of an upcoming book which chronicles how he and others heroically thwarted the terrorist attack titled The 15:17 To Paris, to be published by PublicAffairs in August 2016. He also recently competed on ABC's hit television program Dancing with the Stars where he finished in third place.
Previous Fisher College Commencement Speakers include Boston Marathon heroes Carlos Arredondo and Jeff Bauman and New England Patriots co-captain Matthew Slater.
