American Grandparents Association™ Established By Grandparents.com To Focus On "Grand Families" And Grandparents Rights
NEW YORK, June 14, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Grandparents.com, Inc. (OTCBB: GPCM), The Ultimate Resource for Grandparents™, announced today that the American Grandparents Association™ had been established by the company with the goal of becoming a key resource for "grand families" in which grandparents raise their grandchildren, and to create a forum for grandparents to learn about their legal rights and share their grandparenting challenges and experiences with other grandparents. The Association expects to publish a special section of the redesigned Grandparents.com website, which will launch on Grandparents Day, September 9, 2012, and will complement and enhance existing content on the website that includes the "Grandparent Visitation Rights" and "Grandparents Caring for Grandkids" discussion groups and state-by-state guides on grandparents' rights.
Ellen Breslau, Editor-in-Chief of Grandparents.com, explained, "There are two categories of grandparents we intend to focus on within the American Grandparents Association: (1) Those who are physically removed from their grandchildren, and often cannot visit or even communicate with them; and, (2) those who find themselves in an exactly opposite situation that, due to circumstances beyond their control, have turned them into parents to their grandchildren." The Association will be undertaking research projects and surveying American grandparents from time to time to learn how to best address the many challenges facing these grandparents each and every day.
Ms. Breslau added, "Whatever situation grandparents find themselves in, they want happy, safe, and enriching home lives for their grandchildren. The American Grandparents Association will give them access to information that will help them meet this goal within their family environments. Over six million grandparents in the U.S. are reported to have at least one grandchild living with them. Many millions more are estranged. Whenever grandparents are able to provide a sense of family identity, mentor their grandchildren's education, and establish a more stable home environment, their grandchildren will be able to lead healthier, more successful and meaningful lives."
