LAS VEGAS, Aug. 16, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Delegates attending the American Federation of Government Employees' 41st National Convention here have elected the union's top three national officers.
National President J. David Cox Sr. returns to office for another three-year term. District 5 National Vice President Everett Kelley has been elected National Secretary-Treasurer and Jeremy Lannan has been elected National Vice President for Women and Fair Practices – both for three-year terms as well. Cox was first elected National President in 2012, while Kelley and Lannan have been elected to national office for the first time.

Cox won the top office over challenger Eugene Hudson Jr.
In the race for National Secretary-Treasurer, the first round of voting triggered a run-off.
Kelley led the first round with former National Secretary-Treasurer Jim Davis coming in second. AFGE Council 220 President Dana Duggins came in third, Alex Bastani was fourth, and Grant A. Harris Sr. was fifth.
In the run-off between Kelley and Davis, Kelley won.
Jeremy Lannan was elected as National Vice President for Women and Fair Practices. Augusta Y. Thomas, who served as National Vice President for Women and Fair Practices from 2009-2018 came in second, Terrence J. Johns came in third, and Eleanor Lauderdale placed fourth.
More than 1,560 delegates - from 533 locals - are attending the convention, which will conclude on Friday.
