American Family Care Opens First Medical Center Under Unified Brand
Newest location enhances urgent care leadership position in Philadelphia
WEST CHESTER, Pa., Oct. 1, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- American Family Care (AFC), the nation's leading provider of urgent care and accessible primary care, announces the opening of its first franchise medical center under an AFC marquee, instead of the legacy Doctors Express brand. Located at 510 East Gay Street, West Chester, Pennsylvania, the facility is the company's sixth location in metropolitan Philadelphia, 15th in the tri-state Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware area and 150th in the U.S. overall.
As previously announced, AFC is retiring the Doctors Express name, which is currently used at more than 80 of its clinics nationwide. This rebranding comes slightly more than two years after AFC acquired the Doctors Express franchise system and is expected to enhance the company's position as one of the most widely known and admired brands in health care.
"Philadelphia is an important market for AFC, as we continue fulfilling our mission of making quality health care accessible and economical," said Randy Johansen, President of American Family Care. "The opening of this clinic, along with several additional AFC locations planned for the tri-state area in the coming months, provides us the opportunity to serve the community with quality health care in a manner that also saves them time and money."
AFC's newest West Chester location will also feature a full suite of occupational medicine and worker's compensation services. These services include OSHA-mandated medical surveillance exams, D.O.T. and non D.O.T. drug screens and physicals, and breath alcohol tests, among many other services. "A healthy workforce is a fundamental ingredient for a healthy business," said Jeff Evons, AFC's Area Developer for Pennsylvania and Southern New Jersey. "Injured employees impact a company in terms of both worker's compensation expenses and lost production time, so we work hard to help make it simple and affordable to keep employees healthy."
Over the past 33 years, American Family Care has pioneered the concept of non-emergency room urgent care and expanded its footprint to more than 26 states. All AFC clinics are designed, equipped, and staffed to provide accessible primary care, urgent care, and minor emergency treatment. Each clinic features a high-tech, high-touch approach, including digital X-rays, on-site lab testing, state of the art diagnostics and electronic medical records. The clinics are staffed by kind, caring and compassionate health care professionals. Best of all, AFC clinics are open seven days a week, and no appointments are necessary.
