American Family Care Opens 100th Franchise Location
Milestone Places Health Care Leader Among Other Elite Brands
DENVER and BIRMINGHAM, Ala., May 1, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- American Family Care (AFC), the nation's leading provider of urgent care, occupational medicine and accessible primary care, announced today that it will be dedicating its 100th franchise clinic on Wednesday, May 3 in Denver, Colorado. The state-of-the-art facility is independently owned and operated by Darius and Shideh Kerman, and is the third clinic opened by the Kerman's during the past four years. In addition to its newest clinic in Denver, AFC is currently on track to open more than 30 additional locations during the next 12 months.
"The opening of the 100th clinic is an important milestone for any franchise system," says Edith Wiseman, President of FRANdata — the leading independent research and advisory company that focuses solely on tracking and analyzing franchise companies and their performance. Analysis conducted by FRANdata shows that only 16.8 percent of active franchise brands have 100 locations or more. "What's more, while hundreds of locations is common among food franchises, the fact that this is occurring in the health care industry is worthy of note," added Wiseman.
Recently named a "best buy in franchising" by Franchise Times, AFC has nearly doubled its number of franchise units during the past 48 months. In addition to franchise and corporate locations, the company also operates joint ventures and other partnerships with local hospital systems to provide a high-quality continuum of care for its patients. "Whether operating corporately owned clinics, supporting a local entrepreneur through our franchising model, or by partnering with local hospital systems, pursuing our mission to provide the best health care possible is our primary focus," according to Scott Hoots, Vice President of Franchise Operations for AFC.
According to ProPublica — an independent, non-profit organization that tracks important issues of public interest — the typical emergency room visit across the U.S. is more than two hours. In contrast, over the past 34 years, AFC has pioneered the concept of non-emergency room urgent care, resulting in an average patient visit of about an hour from registration to discharge. "While our growth has been gratifying, it simply represents the fact that AFC's patient-centric model is at the forefront of a revolution in health care. In that regard, I believe our growth has only just begun," continued Hoots.
