American Elements CEO To Challenge Government To Nationalize Molycorp Mine As Strategic Asset
LOS ANGELES, July 13, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- In a keynote address to be delivered at a defense industry and government conference taking place on July 19 in Washington DC, American Elements CEO Michael Silver is expected to propose that the U.S. government apply the Takings Clause of the 5th Amendment and acquire the Molycorp mine in Mountain Pass, California by eminent domain.
Many experts have noted that at present the U.S. military might not survive a war with China given its lack of certain advanced materials. Mr. Silver will be speaking on ways the U.S. Defense Dept. can safeguard the metals essential to strategic readiness. Other proposals he will be making include more forceful enforcement of the rights flowing to the U.S. from the WTO sanctions on China in 2015 and government financial support for American acquisition of foreign mines containing strategic minerals.
Mr. Silver's speech is scheduled for 1:30 PM on July 19th at the The Advanced Materials for Defense Summit, which will be held at the Mary M. Gates Learning Center in Alexandria, VA.
