American Dog Rescue Saves Pregnant Catahoula; Shreveport Rescue Center Receives Financial Support

SHREVEPORT, La., Jan. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- In another show of local rescue support, American Dog Rescue (ADR) came to the aid of Animal Welfare, Inc., a non-profit humane organization based in Shreveport, Louisiana, in supporting "Frankie," a pregnant Catahoula with pups on the way.

"This donation pays for seven weeks worth of boarding," said Rebecca Young, vice president of Animal Welfare.  "I can use that time to continue working on a rescue for her and her puppies."

Louisiana Catahoula Leopard dogs are native to the region, and have often been used as hunting dogs or livestock wranglers. The abandoned Frankie was in desperate need of care and ADR came to the rescue providing financial support until a home can be found for the animal and her pups.

"American Dog Rescue is a national organization that supports both national and local grassroots efforts across the country to ensure every healthy dog finds a loving home," said Arthur Benjamin, founder and president of ADR. "The Animal Welfare group is one of many centers across the country that are making a difference in saving lives and providing wonderful homes to otherwise lonely and abandoned animals. "Frankie caught our attention as a special case, she and her pups needed a 'get out of jail card' and the ADR wanted to provide it."
