ARLINGTON, Va., Nov. 22, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- As we continue to recognize American Diabetes Month® this November, the American Diabetes Association® is dedicated to sharing the stories of the more than 29 million Americans living with diabetes. In addition to this grassroots, storytelling campaign, the Association is hosting Facebook Live panel discussions throughout the month on topics ranging from health disparities to research to overall wellness. On Monday, the Association hosted its second Facebook LIVE event as part of American Diabetes Month and #ThisIsDiabetes. Dr. Tamara Darsow, the Association's Vice President for Research, led the conversation with two esteemed guests, Dr. Simeon Taylor, a Professor and Association-funded researcher at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, and Mrs. Eileen Cortese, a founding funder of the Pathway to Stop Diabetes initiative. Together, the three panelists discussed the importance of donating to the Association to help fund diabetes researchers—like Dr. Taylor—who are working to improve the lives of those affected by this disease and get us closer to cures.
