American Board of Cosmetic Surgery Announces New President and 2016 Diplomates
Cosmetic surgery credentialing board welcomes Dr. Jacob Haiavy as acting president and announces 2016 diplomates
CHICAGO, Feb. 18, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The American Board of Cosmetic Surgery (ABCS), the only board dedicated exclusively to excellence in the medical speciality of cosmetic surgery, is pleased to announce the newest ABCS president, Dr. Jacob Haiavy.
Dr. Samir Pancholi, past president of the organization, has served the board for several years and is now handing over the presidency to fellow colleague and cosmetic surgeon, Dr. Haiavy.
"The ABCS has made significant strides in the past decade, and I'm looking forward to seeing where Dr. Haiavy's leadership, vision, and ideas take the organization in the upcoming years," states Dr. Pancholi. "Dr. Haiavy has tremendous passion, knowledge, and expertise in cosmetic surgery, in addition to an extensive history serving the board and providing training and education to up and coming cosmetic surgeons. I have no doubt he will excel in this position."
Dr. Haiavy's expansive background in reconstructive and cosmetic surgery lends itself well to supporting such a diverse group of surgeons. "I'm looking forward to using my own experiences and training to support the board and our talented pool of diplomates," shares Dr. Haiavy. "I hope to continue Dr. Pancholi's vision and further situate the ABCS as the gold standard for certifying surgeons in the subspecialty of cosmetic surgery."
Congratulations 2016 Diplomates
The American Board of Cosmetic Surgery is also thrilled to welcome their 2016 diplomates. This year's group of promising diplomates epitomize the high standards of the ABCS, and the board is proud of their accomplishment in achieving ABCS certification.
To earn board certification in cosmetic surgery, surgeons must complete at least 300 cosmetic surgeries during their required one to two year fellowship training. This intensive training period is followed by a rigorous oral and written examination covering all aspects of cosmetic surgery.
"We are proud of our newest diplomates and the hard work, commitment, and passion they have shown throughout the training and examination process," emphasizes Dr. Haiavy. "These cosmetic surgeons have worked for years to hone their skills, and it's exciting to let them know that their hardwork has paid off."
