American Association for Justice Announces Gary M. Paul as President for 2011-2012
WASHINGTON, July 13, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Gary M. Paul was announced as the new president of the American Association for Justice (AAJ) at their annual convention in New York City. Mr. Paul will lead AAJ in its continued mission to protect the legal rights of Americans when they are injured by negligence or misconduct, even when it means taking on the most powerful corporations and interests.
"Over the next year, I look forward to meeting AAJ members from across the country and recruiting new trial lawyers to join our ranks," said Mr. Paul. "My message will be simple: being a member means getting involved and joining our fight. The stakes are too high to just sit on the sidelines."
"As president-elect for the past year, Gary has been a tremendous advocate for AAJ and the civil justice system," said outgoing president C. Gibson Vance, a shareholder at Beasley, Allen, Crow, Methvin, Portis & Miles, P.C. in Montgomery, Ala. "He will be an inspiration for AAJ members and the trial bar."
Mr. Paul, a partner at Waters, Kraus & Paul in Los Angeles, Calif., has more than three decades of trial experience in complex civil matters, including consumer and medical product liability and medical and professional malpractice. He has completed over 100 trials and successfully litigated cases ranging from mesothelioma to products liability and medical negligence. He is co-author of California Tort Practice Guide, a five-volume law treatise published by Clark Boardman Callaghan. Mr. Paul previously served as president of both the Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles and the Consumer Attorneys of California.
Mr. Paul graduated from Arizona State University (B.S.E.E.), University of California at Los Angeles (M.S.E), and Loyola Law School (J.D.). He worked as a missile and space engineer before beginning his law career in 1975.
Mr. Paul has recorded a video message to AAJ members, which can be viewed here: http://www.justice.org/cps/rde/xchg/justice/hs.xsl/16251.htm.
As the world's largest trial bar, the American Association for Justice (formerly known as the Association of Trial Lawyers of America) works to make sure people have a fair chance to receive justice through the legal system when they are injured by the negligence or misconduct of others--even when it means taking on the most powerful corporations.
