American Apparel Opens New Store in South Korea
LOS ANGELES and BUSAN, South Korea, Jan. 6, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- American Apparel (Amex: APP), the vertically integrated clothing manufacturer based in downtown Los Angeles, has announced the opening of a store in Busan, South Korea.
The 2312 sq ft store, which opened January 2, is located in the Busanjin-gu district in Busan, the second largest city in South Korea. Known for its shopping and entertainment venues such as UNIQLO, Nike and Apple, Busanjin-gu is an ideal location to reach out to fashionable urban dwellers.
"On the strength of our sales in this market, it made sense to capitalize on the opportunity in Korea. The people of Busan are stylish and fashionable and have always been avid consumers of our products, so we are excited to serve their needs with this retail location," said Marsha Brady, a creative director for American Apparel.
The Busan store will be the first opened by American Apparel in South Korea since 2008. It joins four other Korean locations, all located in Seoul.
