American Airlines Promotes Johna Johnson to Director of Sales-New York
NEW YORK, Nov. 19, 2010 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- American Airlines today announced the promotion of Johna Johnson to the new position of Director of Sales-New York. Johnson joined American in 1999 and most recently managed the company's largest portfolio of global corporate accounts. She negotiated multi-national agreements while maintaining the travel relationships between American and a number of its most important Fortune 100 customers. She also managed the relationship between American and a global travel management company through which she developed programs for mid-sized companies seeking to control travel and business expenses while providing benefits that offer savings.
In her new role, Johnson aims to further increase American's global customer footprint in the Greater New York region by spearheading business development and client sales initiatives. She will also be responsible for integrating American's benefits from its transatlantic and transpacific joint businesses into corporate contracts and agency programs. Johnson will report to Jim Carter, Vice President, Eastern Division Sales.
"Delivering a superior customer experience is essential to growing our business, and Johna's promotion reflects our commitment to New York especially as we promote our joint businesses with British Airways and Iberia as well as Japan Airlines, and other oneworld® alliance relationships in the most competitive marketplace in the world," said Carter. "Her intimate understanding of the individual needs and challenges facing our global customers, coupled with her experience and proven track record in managing significant pieces of business, make her uniquely qualified for this important new role at American."
Before joining American, Johnson was Regional Director of Sales for another airline where she led a team that managed corporate, agency and leisure and ethnic wholesale customers in multiple states. She has been active in the travel industry for over 29 years having also worked in the sports tour, hotel and travel management sectors.
Johnson holds a Bachelors degree from Texas Tech University.
