FORT WORTH, Texas, May 7, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Beginning today, eligible American Airlines customers will have access to TSA PreCheck™ for select international itineraries. TSA PreCheck lets eligible, pre-screened customers traveling from select United States airports ease through security without removing their shoes, belt, jackets or other light outerwear, and allows them to leave laptops and 3-1-1 compliant bags in their carry-ons.

"American welcomes this expansion of TSA PreCheck," said David Campbell, American's Vice President – Safety and Operations Performance. "Eligible American Airlines customers who are traveling internationally using boarding passes issued by American will now be able to take advantage of PreCheck's expedited screening benefits at 29 airports we serve."
American Airlines customers can participate in TSA PreCheck if they are a U.S. citizen and an AAdvantage® program member who received an opt-in invitation; if they are a U.S. citizen enrolled in a Customs and Border Protection Trusted Traveler program including Global Entry, SENTRI and NEXUS; or if they are a Canadian citizen traveling within the U.S. and a member of NEXUS.
When customers opt in to TSA PreCheck, American shares certain reservations and AAdvantage account information with the TSA Secure Flight System. Once a customer is accepted by TSA, the barcode on their boarding pass will be updated to reflect their eligibility. Because TSA incorporates random security measures, eligibility for expedited screening will be determined on a per-flight basis. Participation in Global Entry, SENTRI and NEXUS does not guarantee eligibility in TSA PreCheck.
American was one of the first airlines to participate in TSA PreCheck when it began in October 2011. For more information about the program, please visit aa.com/tsaprecheck.
