American Airlines and airberlin Expand Codeshare Agreement
airberlin Flights Between New York - JFK and Berlin-Tegel Added to List of Codeshare Cities
FORT WORTH, Texas, June 20, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- American Airlines and future oneworld® alliance member, airberlin, have expanded their codeshare relationship to include airberlin's new service between New York's Kennedy International Airport and Berlin-Tegel. airberlin will fly the route four times per week.
Global distribution systems will display the flights today for travel starting this Friday, June 24. With the addition of this new flight, the codeshare agreement between American and airberlin now encompasses the entire U.S. network of the second largest German carrier. airberlin launched its nonstop service - which operates Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays - between JFK and Berlin on May 1.

American and airberlin have been codesharing since November 2010 on several trans-Atlantic, as well as U.S. domestic and intra-European flights. Recently, American added its code to airberlin flights in the following markets: Dusseldorf and Berlin – Miami and Dusseldorf – Fort Myers, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. airberlin recently added its code to American flights between Dallas/Fort Worth and Frankfurt, New York – JFK and Zurich as well as several U.S. domestic flights via American's cornerstone hubs at Los Angeles Miami, and New York – JFK.
