American Airlines Affiliate American Eagle Starts New Nonstop Service From Sioux City to Chicago O'Hare
Passengers Earn Double AAdvantage Miles Between Sioux City and American's International Gateway in Chicago
SIOUX CITY, Iowa, April 3, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- American Eagle, the regional affiliate of American Airlines, is now operating daily round-trip flights between Sioux Gateway Airport and Chicago O'Hare International Airport. Eagle will fly the routes with 44-seat Embraer jets.
"Commercial air service is an important factor for Iowa businesses and cities. Economic development thrives when businesses are growing or, decide to remain in a city. So, too, does job growth hinge on a city's economic development. For these reasons, I am pleased that American Eagle will provide air service to Chicago, one of the best hubs for Iowa business travelers. I was a strong advocate for expanding the Essential Air Service Program to accommodate new cities and to support American Eagle Service to Chicago, which is so beneficial to Iowa," said Senator Tom Harkin (D-IA).
"We're delighted to provide service from Sioux City to our cornerstone hub in Chicago," said Charles Schubert, American's Vice President – Network Planning. "This schedule will allow customers in the Sioux City area to make a day trip to Chicago for business or connect through this key international gateway to destinations throughout the American Airlines and oneworld® global network."
"We are excited to have American Eagle begin service to Chicago today. Chicago is the top destination for Siouxland travelers and direct access to the Chicago O'Hare hub is critical for the community's economic development efforts," said Barbara Sloniker, Executive Vice President, The Siouxland Chamber of Commerce/The Siouxland Initiative.
