American Academy of Forensic Sciences to Hold 68th Annual Scientific Meeting in Las Vegas, Nevada

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., Jan. 19, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The American Academy of Forensic Sciences (AAFS) 68th Annual Scientific Meeting will take place February 22-27, 2016, at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino, Las Vegas. Themed "Transformation: Embracing Change" by AAFS President Victor Weedn, MD, JD, more than 4,000 international scientists will assemble to discuss issues facing forensic science and the efforts to embrace global cooperation and consensus building among forensic professionals.

Sessions will be presented on topics from forensic digital and multimedia sciences and psychiatry and behavioral sciences to interdisciplinary approaches to forensic science investigations of physical evidence. Workshops cover the breadth of forensic science and the compelling tasks that rely upon the cooperation of a multidisciplinary range of human, technical, medical, and scientific endeavors applied to civil disputes and criminal investigations. Highlights include a CSI Mini Camp, a public-education event presented in partnership with the Las Vegas Natural History Museum (LVNHM) at 11 a.m., Sunday, February 21 at the LVNHM, followed by a forensic showcase for adults at 3:30 p.m. at the museum's annex. A plenary session at 9 a.m., Wednesday, February 24 at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino, will present an international panel discussion on the importance of recent forensic-science initiatives and the response of the global community.
