America Wants You Steps Up to Milicruit's 10,000 Jobs Challenge to Assist Service Members, Veterans and Military Spouses in Finding Employment
CHICAGO, March 22, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- America Wants You, today announced that it is joining the 10,000 Jobs Challenge with Milicruit, and businesses across America to assist service members, veterans and military spouses find suitable employment. America Wants You is a unique private sector initiative whose mission is to encourage corporate employers across America to find job opportunities for the men and women who have served and defended the nation. The fact that these brave men and women who have defended our country, its freedom and our way of life are returning home with few, if any opportunities to provide for their families is unacceptable.
The initiative calls on companies, large and small, to join together and pledge jobs for these veterans in need. They stood up and volunteered for America, leaving their families to face indescribable danger and make unimaginable sacrifices.
Through the support of CareerBuilder, employers across America are able to post jobs for veterans on the America Wants You website, www.americawantsyou.net, at no charge. "The 10,000 Jobs Challenge gives us another chance to call on companies, large and small to join together and pledge jobs for Veterans in need. As part of our mission, we'll be knocking on office doors in America and asking them to enlist in our effort, and we'll ask individuals to raise their hands in support of this cause," said Cliff Allman, COO America Wants You.
In the next twelve months, Milicruit will increase the overall number of national career fairs by adding monthly nationwide virtual events and will conduct standalone virtual career fairs for soldiers serving overseas. In addition, Milicruit will feature two standalone virtual career fairs for military spouses as part of their commitment to the challenge. The first overseas career fair for soldiers in Kuwait was held on March 14, 2012 and is followed by the first annual military spouse event, scheduled for May 7, 2012 in honor of Military Spouse Appreciation Day. Employers wishing to join the 10,000 Jobs Challenge can get more information emailing [email protected] or visiting www.10000jobs.com.
"We are grateful that America Wants You has accepted our invitation to join the 10,000 Jobs Challenge. The partnership with them contributes significantly to reaching our goal of finding 10,000 Jobs for veterans and military spouses through the end of 2013, and we look forward to working together with such a great team." said Kevin O'Brien, vice president business development, Milicruit.
