Amedisys CMO Michael Fleming, MD to Join Health Care at Home Movement Pioneers on December 17 Webinar
BATON ROUGE, La., Dec. 9, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Amedisys Chief Medical Officer Michael Fleming, MD, FAAFP is scheduled to join two other national home health care leaders in a webinar detailing industry trends in home care on Friday, Dec. 17, from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. CST. Amedisys (Nasdaq: AMED) is a leading home health care and hospice company, providing care to more than 35,000 patients nationwide every day.
The webinar, titled "Why Health Care is Going Home," will offer insights from pioneers of the home health care movement. The presentation will shed light on the growing importance of chronic care management at home, exploring how care coordination at home is mission critical, as well as the Hospital at Home concept and the physician's role in leading the Health Care at Home movement. Joining Dr. Fleming will be Steven Landers, MD, MPH, Director of the Cleveland Clinic Center for Home Care and Community Rehabilitation and Bruce Leff, MD, an Associate Professor with the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Both physicians are members of the Amedisys Strategic Advisory Board.
The webinar stems from Dr. Landers' October 2010 commentary in the New England Journal of Medicine, where he outlined his perspective on the future of home care as an increasingly crucial component of America's health care system. Landers' commentary also included a call to adapt health care policies to bring patient care back into the home, a position that Amedisys supports.
"Our country is rapidly aging and more Americans of all ages are coping with chronic conditions," said Dr. Fleming. "Home care has always been a key element of the health care system and its importance will only continue to grow. I'm excited to discuss the trends in home care and highlight how physicians will play a major role in the Health Care at Home movement."
Those interested in attending the webinar can register at www.antidotecme.com/HomeHealth. The webinar is supported through an educational grant from Amedisys and is planned and implemented in accordance with the policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education through the joint sponsorship of Antidote Education Company and Amedisys. Application for CME credit has also been filed with the American Academy of Family Physicians.
