Amdocs Employees Volunteer to Support Children Around the World
Amdocs marks United Nations' Universal Children's Day with activities to support children on five continents and conducts global donation drive for UNICEF
ST. LOUIS, Dec. 12, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Amdocs, the leading provider of customer experience systems, marked Universal Children's Day this year by holding special activities in the Americas, Europe, Africa, Asia and Australia. For the fourth consecutive year, Amdocs also conducted a global employee donation drive for UNICEF, targeted to raise funds to support children in need. Donations will go to UNICEF's relief efforts in Thailand to safeguard the health of children who have been affected by the floods.
Additional activities organized by Amdocs employees to mark Universal Children's Day include:
- Amdocs' center in Brazil organized a party for 100 underprivileged children from the Jardim Independencia area and from the Favo de Luz shelter.
- Amdocs' centers in India partnered with four non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to host children supported by the NGOs and employees' children for a day of fun activities. The NGOs also ran stalls to raise funds for the benefit of the children they support.
- In St. Louis, U.S., Amdocs volunteers worked with the Youth in Need organization to host a festive Thanksgiving Dinner for young adults who are experiencing difficulties in life.
- In Israel, Amdocs volunteers organized a film festival at a movie theater for 500 children from local boarding schools. The children enjoyed several art films, documentaries created by pupils studying cinema at one of Amdocs' high school community partners, and short UNICEF movies about children around the world. The children also participated in acting and special-effects workshops.
These initiatives are part of Amdocs' global community relations program, which focuses on supporting the well-being of children at risk and providing them with educational opportunities. Hundreds of Amdocs employees volunteer on an ongoing basis and make a true difference in the lives of more than 3,500 children at risk in the communities where these employees live and work. Amdocs and its employees also contribute to UNICEF's global relief efforts such as relief efforts for child victims of the devastating earthquake and tsunami in Japan earlier this year.
