AMD-Based CompactPCI Serial Multi-Display Controller Handles High-End Graphics
Low power board ideal for several visual-based applications
AMBLER, Pa., April 2, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- MEN Micro Inc., a world-renowned provider of embedded computing and I/O solutions for mission-critical industrial, mobile and harsh environment applications, now offers the G214, a 3U CompactPCI Serial multi-display controller board based on the latest AMD Radeon processor architecture.

The new peripheral board is ideal for use for video surveillance in control rooms as well as in simulators, professional A/V equipment and digital signage applications and other embedded applications requiring compute-intensive GPGPUs (general purpose graphics processing units).
A single G214 can independently control up to six different high-resolution displays. In a pure CompactPCI Serial configuration, the CPU board can control up to seven multi-display boards with four ports each, totaling 28 different displays, for applications that require multiple screens networked on one system. The single displays can be merged into one large picture or deliver different contents.
The new peripheral board uses AMD's Radeon E6760 GPU operating at 600 MHz that also features a programmable 3D graphics engine supporting Microsoft DirectX 11.
This advanced graphics engine also comes with a third generation unified video decoder that enables dual HD decoding of H.264, VC-1, MPEG4 and MPEG2 compressed video streams.
The G214 comes with four DisplayPort 1.2 interfaces that each has a maximum resolution of 4096x2560 at 60 Hz and a color depth of 24 bpp. It can also be equipped with a wider front panel that offers two additional DisplayPorts each with a resolution of 2560x1600.
Six SIMD engines combined with 80 processing elements provide 480 shaders that deliver up to 576 GFLOPS of peak single precision floating point performance, highly useful in ultrasound, radar and video imaging applications.
Power consumption is a maximum of 35 W, with a MTBF logged at more than 150,000 hours according to IEC/TR 62380. The board can withstand shock up to 50 m/s(2) for 30 ms as well as 1 m/s(2) (functioning) and 7.9 m/s(2) (lifetime) of vibration from 5 Hz to 150 Hz.
Operating temperature is 0 degrees C to +60 degrees C with a minimum airflow of 1.5 m/s. Storage temperature is -40 degrees C to +85 degrees C. The G214 supports OpenGL 4.1 and is OpenCL-compliant: AMD APP, OpenCL 1.1 and DirectCompute 11.
Pricing for the G214 is $1,344. Delivery is six to eight weeks ARO.
