ORLANDO, Fla., Oct. 26, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP) is pleased to announce that nearly 2,500 managed care pharmacy professionals from across the country, Europe and Canada will gather in Orlando, Florida, this week to attend AMCP Nexus 2015: Connecting Health Care and Innovation, the largest fall meeting dedicated to furthering knowledge and best practices to ensure patients have access to needed medications.

Nexus 2015, which takes place Oct. 26-29 in the Gaylord Palms Hotel & Conference Center, will feature 30 sessions across five educational tracks: (1) Current Aspects in Specialty Pharmacy Management; (2) Changing Health Care Environment; (3) Drugs, Diseases and the Managed Care Impact; (4) Practical Applications of Managed Care Pharmacy Research; and (5) Inside the Crystal Ball. Session topics include clinical pathways for oncology, management of chronic conditions, appropriate use of opioids, improving patient medication adherence, and preparing for biosimilars in the marketplace.
The meeting also will include a plenary session, known as the Innovation Interchange Session, featuring a keynote address by renowned physician and writer Siddhartha Mukherjee, author of the bestselling and Pulitzer Prize-winning book, "The Emperor of All Maladies: A Biography of Cancer."
Other highlights of Nexus include a vibrant expo hall, The Exchange, in which more than 50 industry leaders can meet face-to-face with managed care pharmacists to discuss the latest ideas, tools and advancements in the field. The Exchange also is the site of the Science & Innovation Theater presentations, which will offer a deep dive into the latest innovations in health care today. In addition, The Exchange will present more than 230 scientific poster presentations.
Also at Nexus is the 18th Annual AMCP Managed Care Residency Showcase, which provides a forum for student pharmacists to meet with representatives from managed care pharmacy residency and fellowship programs across the country. In addition, Nexus will be the site of eight non-commercial, industry-supported satellite symposia, which extend the educational experience of conference attendees.
