AMCP Nexus 2014 Opens in Boston

BOSTON, Oct. 7, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP) today opened AMCP Nexus 2014: Connecting Health Care and Innovation conference here in Boston, bringing together 2,100 pharmacists, doctors, nurses and other practitioners from across the nation and New England for four days of workshops, exhibits, research presentations and even a visit to Fenway Park.

Keynoting this year's Innovation Interchange session on Oct. 8 is health care futurist Joe Flower, one of the leading health care thought leaders in the United States and around the globe. Additionally, on Oct. 9, the AMCP Foundation is releasing "Ahead of the Curve: Top Ten Emerging Health Care Trends – Implications for Patients, Providers, Payers and Pharmaceuticals," a report outlining major health care developments and their impact on efforts to improve quality of care, population health and affordability.

The conference, taking place Oct. 7-10 at the Hynes Convention Center, includes five educational tracks, with close to 30 sessions, and four pre-conference programs, covering the most critical topics in health care today:

• Specialty Pharmacy, including the Integration of the Specialty Drug Benefit
• The Changing Health Care Environment
• Current Clinical Concepts
• Research and Evidence in Managed Care
• Fundamentals of Managed Care Pharmacy
• Comparative Effectiveness Research

Another highlight is The Exchange, which this year features 40 exhibit booths, product theaters and dozens of research poster presentations.  The Exchange is open on Wed. and Thur., October 8-9.
