WASHINGTON, Sept. 25, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Ambassador John Bolton endorses four Minnesota Republican candidates for elected office and makes a PAC contribution to each campaign. The candidates include U.S. Senate contender Mike McFadden, Rep. John Kline (MN-2), Stewart Mills (MN-8), and state Sen. Torrey Westrom (MN-7). In the effort to take over Congress, Republican party officials are focused on picking up seats in Minnesota.
Statements on each candidate:
Bolton on McFadden: "I am proud to announce my endorsement of U.S. Senate candidate Mike McFadden. Mike is the type of problem solver we need in Washington. He will bring his real world experience to Washington and help change the direction of our country and get us back on track."
Bolton on Kline: "John is a 25-year veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps whose son has served three tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. He knows what leadership is and is dedicated to serving his country. As a member of the House Armed Services Committee, John is committed to protecting American interests from threats at home and abroad."
Bolton on Mills: "Stewart is a business executive with a track record of success. A lifelong resident of Minnesota, he is the right candidate to lead the 8th CD. Furthermore, his opponent, Rep. Rick Nolan has proven himself too extreme for Minnesotans as he voted for Obamacare and against funding for our military and our veterans."
Bolton on Westrom: "Torrey has fought for what's right his whole life. For the past 18 years he has defended conservative principles in the Minnesota state legislature and I am confident he will take this commitment to Washington, and lead on conservative policies that impact Minnesota, America, and our concerns overseas."
Bolton is committed to supporting candidates for elected office who believe in protecting American freedoms by securing U.S. interests in a challenging world. The John Bolton PAC and the John Bolton SuperPAC have raised more than $6 million to date, with nearly $3 million cash on hand.
Statements from each candidate:
McFadden: "I am grateful to receive the endorsement of Ambassador John Bolton. It is an honor that a man with so much diplomatic and political experience has confidence in me and my abilities to represent Minnesota in Washington."
Kline: "The recent rise of Islamist Terrorists in Iraq and Syria and the threats facing the United States from around the world serve as stark and sobering reminders we must remain vigilant. One of my top priorities in Congress is ensuring the men and women of the armed forces receive the best equipment, weapons systems, and training so they can defend freedom and accomplish their mission. I am honored to receive Ambassador Bolton's support."
Mills: "Ambassador Bolton has set the bar for what leadership and commitment to our country should look like, and I'm honored to receive his support today. America is now facing a number of challenges and Ambassador Bolton knows that protecting our interests and way of life requires a responsible and thoughtful foreign policy strategy from our elected officials. I'm looking forward to working with Ambassador Bolton while in Congress as we seek the best ways to protect Americans at home and abroad."
Westrom: "I am deeply honored to have Ambassador Bolton's endorsement in the race to represent Minnesota 7th CD, and I share his unwavering commitment to strengthening America's national security. Now, more than ever, it is critical that we maintain a strong national defense and sophisticated military in the face of growing international threats from groups like ISIS. When in Congress, I will fight tirelessly on behalf of western Minnesota for strong national defense and American leadership abroad."
