Ambassador John Bolton Endorses and Makes PAC Contribution to Dan Sullivan's AK Senate Campaign
Bolton cites Sullivan's broad national security experience and the importance of the GOP taking over the U.S. Senate with the endorsement.
WASHINGTON, Aug. 29, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Ambassador John Bolton endorses U.S. Senate candidate from Alaska, Dan Sullivan. Sullivan, formerly the Attorney General of Alaska, faces a heated battle against Democrat Mark Begich, whose record shows he is a foot soldier for Senator Harry Reid and President Obama. Sullivan has a distinguished record of military and national service and is currently a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves with 20 years of service as an infantry and reconnaissance. He also served as a U.S. Assistant Secretary of State, as well as a Director on the National Security Council staff under Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.
"I first met Dan when he was the U.S. Assistant Secretary of State, and I know him to be an expert on national security. He is the type of leader we need in the U.S. Senate," said Bolton. "With the recent and convincing primary win, Dan has shown he understands Alaskans and is the right leader to take on and beat incumbent Democrat Mark Begich in this key election that will help flip the U.S. Senate. I look forward to doing everything I can to ensure Dan represents Alaska come 2015."
Bolton is committed to supporting candidates for elected office who believe in protecting the United States' vital freedoms at home by securing American interests in a challenging world. The John Bolton PAC and the John Bolton Super PAC have raised a combined $4.5 million to date with over $3 million cash on hand.
According to Dan Sullivan, "I am honored to have Ambassador Bolton's support. He and I agree that when it comes to America's role on the international stage, weakness is provocative. The Obama administration's decision to 'lead from behind' has emboldened our enemies and disillusioned our allies. As Alaska's U.S. Senator, I will champion a return to a foreign policy that accurately reflects America's unique standing among nations as a tremendous force for good and a beacon of freedom."
Ambassador Bolton's PAC has endorsed and made contributions to 22 candidates, including U.S. Senate candidates David Perdue (GA), Rep. Bill Cassidy (LA), former Sen. Scott Brown (NH), Thom Tillis (NC), Ed Gillespie (VA), Rep. Tom Cotton (AR), Joni Ernst (IA), Terri Lynn Land (MI), and Leader Mitch McConnell (KY), along with U.S. House of Representatives candidates Rep. French Hill (AR-2), Rep. Mike Pompeo (KS-4), Bruce Westerman (AR-4), Rep. Ron DeSantis (FL-6), Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart (FL-25), Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (FL-27), Carlos Curbelo (FL-26), Will Hurd (TX-23), Martha McSally (AZ-2), Barbara Comstock (VA-10), Rep. Adam Kinzinger (IL-16), former Rep. Robert Dold (IL-10), and Rep. Mike Pompeo (KA-4).
