Amaro Montenegro Announces Its First-Ever Worldwide Cocktail Competition: The Vero Bartender
Bartenders Called to Submit Their Twist on a Classic Cocktail with Amaro Montenegro by August 31
U.S. National Finals Slated for October 15-17 in Chicago; Winner Receives Weeklong Residency in Italy and Advances to Global Competition November 26-December 1
NEW YORK, July 2, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- More than 130 years ago, Amaro Montenegro founder Stanislao Cobianchi traveled the world in search of adventure and sapore vero, or true flavors. Collecting botanicals from his travels, he toiled to explore the depths of taste, passion and creativity, daring to perfect his recipe and find his truth. Now the award-winning brand is calling bartenders around the world to submit their recipe for a chance to be named The Vero Bartender, or the true bartender.
In its first-ever worldwide competition, Amaro Montenegro is scouring the globe for the very best bartenders who are passionate about flavors and unafraid of challenging the expected by putting a twist on a classic cocktail. Anyone 21 years old or older can submit their recipe HERE until August 31, 2018 at 11:59 p.m. PDT.
"We have a deep appreciation for bartenders who explore their craft and use Amaro Montenegro in new and inventive ways," said Francesco Scaglione, International Commercial Director of Gruppo Montenegro. "The Vero Bartender is our way of recognizing such talent and demonstrating a true connection back to the words written on our bottle: sapore vero."
On September 21, ten online finalists will be named by a panel of judges from the United States Bartenders' Guild who will review the applications with no indication of the applicant's name, age, gender or workplace. Preliminary judging will consist of the following criteria: inspiration & originality, taste & balance and the element of surprise created with Amaro Montenegro.
The U.S. national finals for The Vero Bartender will take place in Chicago from October 15-17, 2018. The U.S. winner will receive a one-week residency in Italy and advances to the global competition in Bologna, Italy from November 26 to December 1, 2018. Competing in the global competition will be bartenders from Italy, Germany, UK, Australia, Spain, Switzerland, Austria, Belgium and Albania. Explore your craft, discover true flavor.

ABOUT AMARO MONTENEGRO
Amaro Montenegro, celebrated as the world's best liqueur*, was perfected in 1885 and features the essence of 40 botanicals from around the globe, collected during the travels of explorer and herbalist Stanislao Cobianchi. The signature complex taste is characterized by a pleasing blend of sweet and bitter notes. Traditionally served as a digestif, Amaro Montenegro has since become a favorite of bartender and mixologists for its tremendous versatility in crafting inventive cocktails and adding a flavorful twist to classic drinks. What distinguishes Amaro Montenegro from other herbaceous liqueurs is its balanced bitter-sweet flavor, smooth texture and milder proof – making it the difference in the drink. A product of Bologna Italy, Amaro Montenegro's secret recipe remains unchanged as does the boiling, maceration and distillation process that was practiced more than 130 years ago.
*Amaro Montenegro was named 2018 Best Liqueur by the 2018 San Francisco World Spirits Competition
