AMARILLO, Texas, Oct. 18, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The Amarillo Economic Development Corporation (AEDC), the primary economic development organization for the City of Amarillo, was showcased as a Bronze Sponsor at the 36th annual 2017 Inc. 5000 Conference in Palm Desert, California.
Along with partners such as Amarillo College, West Texas A&M University and the West Texas Enterprise Center, the organization met with leaders who made the list of the nation's fastest-growing private companies.
"This event catapulted Amarillo as a destination for business to a national audience like no other event we've ever participated in," Barry Albrecht, president and CEO of the Amarillo Economic Development Corporation, said. "During the conference, our staff and representatives from our community partners had tremendous conversations with the owners and founders of the fastest private growing companies in America. Many of these business owners and industry leaders were surprised to see how aggressively we were promoting our community and the business advantages Amarillo offers."
The Inc. 5000 Conference brings together and celebrates the most successful companies within the national economy's spectrum of dynamic privately held businesses. Companies such as Microsoft, Dell, Zillow and other well-known organizations gained their first national exposure as honorees at the Inc. 5000 event.
"The conversations we had with founders and CEOs of the Inc. 5000 are some of the best I've ever had during my tenure with the AEDC," Doug Nelson, senior vice president of AEDC financial services, said. "This event has elevated the Amarillo brand to a degree that we are now part of a national conversation of growth and entrepreneurship. I am excited to see what happens moving forward."
In May 2017, the AEDC launched a national campaign partnering with Inc. Magazine to showcase the business and entrepreneurial opportunities that are available in the community, in conjunction with Amarillo College, West Texas A&M University, West Texas Enterprise Center, Texas Tech University, Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center and Amarillo National Bank.
Articles from the campaign can be viewed in the September, October and November issues of Inc. magazine as well as online at www.inc.com/amarillo.
