Amarillo Country Barn Steakhouse sells for $1.98 million
AMARILLO, Texas, Oct. 30, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Amarillo's Country Barn Steakhouse Restaurant Building sold for $1.98 million Tuesday.
"There was a lot of community interest in this auction because the restaurant is such a landmark, but we weren't sure how this would translate into bids for the restaurant itself," said Spanky Assiter, founder and president of Assiter Auctioneers, which conducted the auction.
"We had a dozen live bidders, plus another nine Internet bidders. Folks came from all over Texas, and even one from Tennessee. Now we're shifting our focus to the Nov. 9 auction of the non-real estate assets, including the widely recognized cowboy in front of the restaurant. We have well over 600 items, including dozens of wall hangings, buffalo heads, furniture, vehicles, display cases and endless memorabilia. We will likely have folks equipping another restaurant, decorating a man cave or adding to a collection. You could really outfit a whole western museum with the items in the restaurant," said Assiter.
The seller of the restaurant was developer George Chapman, for whom Assiter recently sold the McLean Ranch for $16.79 million.
