Amarillo Country Barn Steakhouse building, contents set for auctions
AMARILLO, Texas, Oct. 16, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The Country Barn Steakhouse Restaurant Building – a highly visible landmark in the growing West Amarillo Business Corridor – will sell at auction Oct. 29, with Assiter Auctioneers marketing the property and managing the auction.
"This has been widely anticipated because it's a very well known location in a great area, and it's being sold by developer George Chapman, for whom we recently sold McLean Ranch for $16.79 million," said Spanky Assiter, chairman and founder of the auction company.
The 17,101-square-foot building on Interstate 40 has two main dining rooms, a full bar, three private dining rooms, and a large meeting room with its own bar and grill. The restaurant is located near such prominent businesses as Kabuki, Saltgrass, Johnny Carino's, Logan's Roadhouse, Westgate Mall and others.
Bidding on the restaurant will begin at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29. Internet bidding with simulcast will be available.
The contents and collectibles from the restaurant will be sold in a second event beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 9.
"It's possible that someone – perhaps the buyer of the building – might buy all of the contents, but we're certainly not assuming that. Selling the equipment separately will enable us to make the many items available to a full range of buyers, including owners of other restaurants, for example," said Assiter. "I'm hoping that someone will take the Country Barn and make it a vibrant venue for the area. That would be great for Amarillo diners and for the local economy."
