Kentucky Medical Association employee served KY physicians for more than 38 years
SAN DIEGO, Nov. 6, 2010 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The American Medical Association (AMA) today presented Robert Klinglesmith with the Medical Executive Lifetime Achievement Award in honor of his contributions to the medical profession. Klinglesmith retired last year from his position as director of professional development at the Kentucky Medical Association (KMA), where he worked for more than 38 years. The award was presented at the AMA's semi-annual policy making meeting in San Diego.

"The AMA is pleased to present this award to Robert Klinglesmith in honor of his nearly four decades of work on behalf of Kentucky physicians and the entire medical profession," said AMA Board Chair Ardis D. Hoven, M.D., a practicing physician in Kentucky.
During his career with the KMA, Klinglesmith was integral in establishing some of the nation's first state Continuing Medical Education (CME) programs and statewide physician peer review systems, and the Impaired Physicians Program – a successful physician recovery initiative.
Klinglesmith has been active with statewide cancer organizations, serving on the American Cancer Society Physicians Workgroup and the Kentucky Cancer Consortium Steering Committee. He is also a board member of the Kentucky Physicians Health Foundation.
