AMA Announces New Global Alliances
CHICAGO, April 26, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The American Marketing Association (AMA), the largest professional association for marketers in North America, announces the formation of two new global alliances to better connect AMA members with marketers and thought leaders throughout the world.
In April, the AMA signed a memorandum of intent to align with the Marketing Association of Spain (Asociacion de Marketing de Espana – MKT). Through the collaboration agreement, the two associations will share knowledge and launch joint initiatives that benefit the development of the marketing profession and provide additional value to their members beyond their respective borders. The agreement brings together more than 30,000 professionals in the marketing world. Members of MKT may be part of AMA under special terms and vice versa, and thus will have access to all publications, tools and conferences offered by the marketing organizations.
Jose Carlos Villalvilla, president of the Marketing Association of Spain, says of the alliance: "The important agreement we have signed with the AMA is a milestone in the history of the association and provides important benefits to our partners, giving them access to a large group of professionals and activities, marketing tools and content from one of the world's most developed markets. At the same time, it gives members of the AMA a gateway to the Spanish market and Spanish-speaking professionals."
Moreover, the AMA now is partnered with the Asia Marketing Federation (AMF), an organization of marketing associations from countries in Asia including Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Mongolia, the Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Vietnam. Through this alliance, members of the AMF can take advantage of special AMA membership offerings and both marketing communities can learn from one another via shared content. Plans for a joint marketing event are in the works.
Masaaki Ishibashi, AMF's secretary general and executive director of the Japan Marketing Association, says: "In today's economy, the magnitude of the Asian market is increasing day by day. The Asia Marketing Federation and American Marketing Association will start to collaborate to enhance the understanding of each market and to provide better insight for all marketing-related people."
According to Dennis Dunlap, CEO of the American Marketing Association, the AMA is committed to expanding its brand and offerings beyond North America. Of the two new global alliances, he says: "These alliances represent an important step in securing key international partners that share the AMA's mission. Both MKT and AMF represent thousands of marketing professionals that are now part of an expanded global community. AMA members will no doubt benefit from the knowledge exchange and the increased networking opportunities."
