CAMBRIDGE, Mass., June 17 /PRNewswire/ -- AlwaysOn, the leading producer of world-class conferences for venture capitalists, entrepreneurs and strategic partners, and Sonnenschein Venture Technology Group, a national Top 10 venture law firm with offices from Silicon Valley to New York and around the globe, today announced the first annual AlwaysOn Venture Capital East 50. This award highlights the top 50 individual venture investors based in Eastern North America and is based on the highest total number and dollar amounts of successful exits from their portfolio companies through merger and acquisitions and Initial Public Offerings. The winners of the VC East 50 will be recognized at the 2010 AlwaysOn Venture Summit East conference, to be held June 21-23, 2010 at Harvard Business School in Cambridge, Mass.

To compile the first VC East 50 list, AlwaysOn worked with Morgan Stanley, VentureDeal and The 451 Group to evaluate more than 700 active venture capitalists, 1,400 VC investments and 1,000 technology liquidity events during the last four years—from October 1, 2005 to September 30, 2009. The honorees of the VC East 50 join the notable list of successful investors from the Venture Summit Silicon Valley VC 100 list announced in December 2009.
"From Research Triangle Park to New York's Silicon Alley up through Boston's university research corridor, we have witnessed first hand, through our offices up and down the east coast and around the country to Palo Alto, many of their game changing investments," said Victor H. Boyajian, global chair, Sonnenschein Venture Technology Group. "It is with great pleasure that we, in partnership with AlwaysOn, honor their extraordinary performance which spans a variety of industry sectors that we ourselves focus on including Internet and digital media, software, cleantech, life sciences and medical devices."
Many winners of the VC East 50 will be in attendance at Venture Summit East, which brings together the most influential institutional investors, venture capitalists, corporate buyers, investment bankers and research analysts in the Eastern U.S. to discuss the significant economic, political and technological trends impacting the global growth investor. The goal of Venture Summit East is to match growth-company buyers and sellers and identify the most promising innovation-driven, growth investment opportunities.
"While venture capital firms grew out of Silicon Valley, many of the tech industry's leading investors are now headquartered along the East Coast," said AlwaysOn Founder and Editor Tony Perkins. "The individuals on the VC East 50 are savvy investors with an eye for promising entrepreneurs without regard to geography."
