GoingGreen West 100 winners are selected by AlwaysOn editors in collaboration with KPMG. Judging criteria included market opportunity, nature of innovation, media buzz and awareness, commercialization and ability to create stakeholder value. Companies must be located in the Western United States and Canada to qualify. Last year's overall winner, BrightSource Energy, has acquired $150 million in funding this year since being honored at GoingGreen and is expected to issue an IPO in 2011.
"Clean technology is an industry that is, in many ways, still in its beginning stages and is assured to have a huge impact on the world, in terms of business and environmental stability," said Tony Perkins, founder and editor of AlwaysOn. "The companies being honored at GoingGreen are growing so rapidly because they are pioneers in a field that is growing with them."
GoingGreen West 100 winners will be honored at the AlwaysOn GoingGreen West Conference to be held October 12-14, 2010, at the Presidio Golden Gate Club in San Francisco. This two-and-a-half day executive conference will bring together innovators and VCs by offering presentations and high-level debates from CEOs, journalists, industry experts, investors, venture capitalists and greentech executives.
