Following the success of its sister conference in Silicon Valley in December, where the Top 100 VCs from around the world were honored, the 2010 Venture Summit East event marks the release of the first ever East Coast VC Top 50 list. The list recognizes value creation by East Coast-based venture capitalists with the best mergers and acquisitions and initial public offering track records over the past four years.
"We are excited to co-host Venture Summit East," said Mike Roberts, Executive Director of the School's Arthur Rock Center for Entrepreneurship. "We have many graduates in the VC and entrepreneur communities, and we are also looking forward to hosting the many members of those communities who have not been exposed to our extensive entrepreneurship program or visited our campus. We have more than thirty faculty in our Entrepreneurial Management Unit who do a considerable amount of influential research and course development in this field. I know they look forward to sharing their ideas as well as learning from the great group that will attend the Summit."
Now in its third year, Venture Summit East helps investors and entrepreneurs stay abreast of market opportunities and conditions that may influence their success. Venture Summit East features keynotes and panel discussions from some of the most influential institutional investors, venture capitalists, corporate buyers, investment bankers and analysts in Europe and Eastern North America.
"The AlwaysOn Stanford Summit has long been one of the preeminent events for the entrepreneur and venture capital communities. I am thrilled to be working with the AO team to bring that same type of university partnership to Harvard Business School. This year's Venture Summit East will be a 'must attend' gathering for entrepreneurs around the country," said Jeff Bussgang, General Partner, Flybridge Capital Partners, and Entrepreneur-in-Residence at Harvard Business School's Rock Center for Entrepreneurship. Bussgang will also act as co-host for the 2010 Venture Summit East conference.
"AlwaysOn is honored to be collaborating with such an eminent institution as Harvard Business School," said Tony Perkins, founder and editor of AlwaysOn. "Venture Summit East will host a wide array of thought leaders and commentators on the state of the VC industry."
Venture Summit East will also feature the East 100 -- a list of the fastest growing privately held companies located in Eastern North America or Europe. Companies from a variety of industries, including cloud computing and SasS, consumer internet, digital education, digital media, enabling tools and devices, greentech, and wireless, will all be selected for the list based on the following criteria -- market opportunity, nature of innovation, media buzz and awareness, commercialization and ability to create stakeholder value. Nominations are being accepted until May 24, with the winners announced in June and celebrated at the Venture Summit East 2010 on June 21.
