Aluminum Association Announces Boultinghouse and Chairman's Award Winners

ARLINGTON, Va., Oct. 9, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Aluminum Association announced today the winners of two prestigious industry awards presented during its recent annual meeting in Washington, D.C. Mike Zoll, Director of Safety at Novelis, received the Marlan Boultinghouse Award for industry leadership while Dick Schultz, Managing Director at Ducker Worldwide, received the newly created Chairman's Award, recognizing a non-industry employee who nonetheless made a positive impact educating the public about the importance of aluminum.

Mike Zoll is the long-time Director of Safety at Novelis and has worked for many years to improve the industry's overall safety programs. Zoll serves on the Association's Casthouse Safety Workshop Steering Committee in which he has input into the strategic direction of a program that educates hundreds of industry workers each year on plant safety best practices. He is also the long-time editor of the Association publication on safe handling of molten aluminum. In addition to his time at Novelis, Zoll has worked in various safety roles for Logan Aluminum and Reynolds Metals. His first involvement with the Association goes back to his participation in the Aluminum Powder & Pigments Safety Workshops more than 30 years ago.  He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry from Indiana University. 

Dick Schultz, 2014 Aluminum Association Chairman's Award Winner
Dick Schultz is a Managing Director at Ducker Worldwide and the primary author of several independent studies showing the growing importance of aluminum in the automotive space. Prior to joining Ducker, Schultz spent many years in the metals industry as a metallurgical engineer – first with LTV Steel and later with Alcoa. While at Alcoa Schultz lead the Alcoa Automotive Group expansion to meet automotive industry needs in North America and Europe. He holds a Masters in Business Administration degree in Economics from the University of Pittsburgh and a Bachelor of Science in Metallurgical Engineering from the University of Cincinnati.   

The Boultinghouse Award is the highest award given by the North American industry and honors those who have not only had distinguished careers within a member company but also have provided their talents to the betterment of the Association and industry. The award is presented in memory of late ARCO Aluminum, Inc. President Marlan T. Boultinghouse. Boultinghouse brought energy and enthusiasm to the industry through his advocacy of aluminum marketing and the many technical programs he helped to advance.

The Aluminum Association Chairman's Award is a newly created honor intended to recognize individuals outside the industry whose work nonetheless made contributions to the advancement of aluminum in a significant way. Researchers, analysts, political leaders and others are all eligible for the Association's Chairman's Award.
