Alticast Shows Content Providers how to Maximize Cloud and IoT Business Opportunities at CES 2015
Alticast's Solutions Enable the "Future of TV Simplified"
BROOMFIELD, Colo., Dec. 16, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Alticast, a global partner for the delivery of media entertainment, will show attendees of the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show (CES) how its latest solutions create new Cloud-based and Internet of Things (IoT) related business opportunities for content providers. The demonstrations will take place throughout the show (January 6-9) in Las Vegas at the Venetian Hotel, in suites 30-318 and 30-320.
Alticast will showcase its entire line of solutions at the show, which range from components for home networking and security, to those enabling multiple device support, with particular emphasis on its AltiPlex™ Client-Server Cloud solutions, innovative IoT demonstrations and AltiProtect™ technology solution.
"Taking advantage of the Cloud and the Internet of Things to deliver new services opens up new business opportunities for cable operators and other video service providers that have tremendous potential," said John Carlucci, Alticast's CTO. "Our advanced and proven solutions can address the most complex Cloud and IoT applications to truly simplify the delivery of current and future TV services."
Alticast's key demonstrations at IBC 2015 include:
- Alticast's AltiPlex Cloud Services Platform (CSP) provides a variety of cloud solutions, including back office integration, metadata delivery, big-data support and a number of add-on features including a Cloud-based Personal Video Recording (PVR) system. In addition, Alticast's Cloud UI (user interface) application provides a thin client/server model for delivering the user experience to all devices in the home. This architecture reduces demands on the set-top box (STB) processor and memory by pre-processing the UI in the Cloud. A web-based console enables the delivery of different UIs to different devices for user experience versatility and also supports MSO UI trials and service scenarios.
- The emergence of the IoT is an opportunity for cable providers to offer new services to customers. Alticast will demonstrate technology integrations with these emerging IoT solutions that utilize the existing STB in the home to add services for controlling things like energy management, home security and appliance monitoring and automation. These services can work with the popular Reference Design Kit (RDK) and other STB platforms allowing operators to extend their portfolio of solutions in the household.
- Alticast's AltiProtect is a standards-based security solution deployed on millions of STBs across multiple operators that is ideal for both legacy and next-generation devices without CableCARD. It allows operators to seamlessly swap content protection systems – saving truck rolls and speeding the introduction of new devices. With continued system mergers and device evolution, AltiProtect offers customers a cloud-based, renewable system that leverages cryptographic hardware for the secure protection of media.
